Here's how we restore things to
normal when you have a flooded carpet.
First Step: Water Extraction
We begin by using a 100 lb. stainless steel roller force standing water out of the carpet yarn, the carpet backing
and the foam or latex pad underneath your carpet. This heavy weight is rolled across the length and width of your
room, driving the water ahead of it. In this manner the great majority of the water is removed.
Second Step: The Air Movers
Despite the efforts of the roller the extraction unit some moisture naturally remains in both the carpet yarn and
its pad underneath. We now pull back a small section of your carpet from baseboard in each flooded room an insert
powerful air movers between the carpet backing and the pad. The air movers are effective in drying al the carpeting
in the room from the underside and the padding at the same time.

When the air movers are turned on we introduce a powerful
Quaternary disinfectant and deodorizer right into the air-stream, which is carried throughout the entire underside
of the carpet, and into the pad. This is the most important step because moisture from flooding activates mold
and mildew spores which always present. These spores must be killed by the disinfectants quickly, before any of
many problems resulting from mold and mildew become evident.
Third Step: Disinfect &
Deodorize Carpet Yarn Surface
The same Quaternary disinfectant and deodorizer that was used beneath your carpet backing must now be used to treat
the carpet yarns on the surface and for every same reason. If mold, mildew and the various types of bacteria that
may be present deep in the carpet in the carpet pile are allowed to grow and spread, the resulting problems of
very unpleasant odors and illness from the bacteria can literally drive people from their home or places of business.
This is obviously one of the most important steps in treating flooded carpet.
Forth Step: De-Contamination
In many cases when we are called in to restore a flooded carpet we find that the flooding was cause by a sewage
system failure resulting in broken septic lines or overflowing toilets, tubs, or sinks. In these situations and
certain others, dangerous contaminants and odor producing substances have penetrated deep into the carpet pad.
In these circumstances we utilize a special de-contamination device to kill harmful bacteria and neutralize any
resulting odors. The device has a thankful of Quaternary disinfectant and deodorizer attached to a rubber hose
and a hollow needle. With this device we are able to actually inject and pump disinfectants directly through the
carpet and into the padding itself.
Fifth Step: De-Humidifying
Before we leave the premises we place high capacity de-humidifiers in each of the rooms that have been flooded.
The de-humidifiers remove moisture from the air, which then has the capacity to absorb the last remnants of moisture
from the carpet.
Sixth Step: The Moisture Test
As the last and most important step we return several days late, when all the carpet has been dried, with our moisture-detecting
device. We walk all area of the carpet with this battery-operated tool, which will emit" beeps" if any
isolated areas of moisture remain to be treated. If all is well (dry) the carpet is steam cleaned and the process
is complete.
